Thai Basil

Thai basil is an aromatic herb with an anise-like, lightly spicy flavor that holds up well during cooking.

Thai Basil

How it compares to Italian sweet basil

Thai basil is firmer and tastes more like licorice or anise; sweet basil is softer and more floral.

Storage & handling

  • Wash gently and dry just before use.
  • Add near the end of cooking to preserve aroma.
  • Thai basil is different from holy basil, the traditional herb in pad kra pao, though it is often substituted.
