CSA 101
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture: a subscription to a local farm's harvest. You pay once at the start of the season, and a box of just-picked vegetables shows up every week.
At signup you purchase a 'share' of the farm's upcoming harvest — that's why CSA boxes are also called farm shares. Your payment up front funds the seeds, planting, labor and packing for the season, which is what the 'community supported' part of Community Supported Agriculture means.
Through the season the farm plants, tends and harvests dozens of vegetable varieties. At Belle Nature, everything is grown on our own farm in Farmington, Minnesota — about 30 minutes south of Minneapolis.
Each week of the season you receive a box of whatever is at its peak. Our 12-week season runs August 1 – October 20 — the height of the Minnesota harvest — and every vegetable is picked within 24 hours of your delivery or pickup. Alongside familiar staples we grow unique Asian and African vegetables, and every vegetable in the box comes with a recipe so you always know how to cook it.
Traditional CSA boxes are farmer's choice — you get what you get, including vegetables you may never cook. Belle Nature boxes are customizable: tell us what you don't want and we build your box around your preferences, so nothing goes to waste.
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Members buy a share of a local farm's harvest before the season starts and receive a box of fresh produce each week of the season in return.
A CSA box (or farm share box) is the weekly delivery you receive as a CSA member — a mix of vegetables harvested at their peak that week. A Belle Nature box contains 5–12 items depending on the size you choose, customized to exclude anything you've told us you don't want. Boxes include unique Asian and African vegetables alongside Minnesota staples, and every vegetable comes with a recipe.
Belle Nature farm shares cost $345 (Single), $540 (Couple) or $708 (Family) for the full 12-week season — about $29–$59 per week. Full details are on our pricing page.
If your household regularly eats vegetables, a CSA typically gets you fresher produce than the grocery store at a comparable price — and your money goes directly to a local farm. The biggest risk is receiving vegetables you won't use, which is exactly what Belle Nature's customization removes.
